Secret Society

Wore my black Dillon Precision ball cap in to work today actually, it is my dads I forgot mine at a Chinese restaurant a few months ago!  Co-worker on the elevator asked what the DP initials on the hat stood for and well, I took the chance and risked ostracization and told him that Dillon Precision made ammunition reloading gear.

After about a half of a beat or so, he looked at me and said, You know, I need to get some reloading gear because 30-06 ammo is getting to be so damned expensive.  I also need to start reloading 44 mag as well.  He went on to tell me about his recent coyote hunting exploits and other outdoor adventures.

In this city, on this side of the state, you hardly ever want to fly your conservative gun and bible-clinging credentials out in the open.  Same thing with political signs or bumper stickers unless you park in your garage at night or happen to work at Cabelas or somewhere with secure parking, you just dont take the chance.

Heck, I have a whole shoebox of great bumper stickers that I am afraid to put on the car because I know my car would get vandalized or would generate some serious sideways glances here at the office.

After talking to my co-worker though, I have hope that things are going to be changing soon.  People are sick and tired of the way things have been for the past 4 years, sick and tired of the brow-beating and the bigotry leveled towards conservative and libertarian-leaning folks.  Liberal tolerance?  Yeah, whatever.

My big worry is what is going to happen on November 7th or 8th when The One gets his walking papers.  I am prepared to batten down the hatches if necessary and to protect my family and I hope you are too.

Who knew? You never know what you'll find when you wear your DP hat, but you found a kindred spirit! That's nice.
